We heal in connection to ourselves and to others
Hi there. My name is Nkenna and I’m a psychiatric nurse practitioner. My work is rooted in my personal experience as a woman and mother to multiple children as well as my training. I am in the trenches too!
I sang in a choir for a long time, ran track in high school, and have dabbled in creative writing. I enjoy being in nature, listening to a good podcast, engaging in meaningful conversations, and planning new hobbies to try out.
I believe:
That being authentic requires guts, and it’s so worth it
In the power of connection
In the healing power of spirituality
In integrating conventional psychiatric treatments with other holistic approaches
In finding joy in the simple things in life
That our imperfections are beautiful
My Story
I came into this world asking “why” and I continue to look at the world with curiosity.
After I moved to the United States and took my first psychology course, I began to get some answers to the “why” of human behavior and emotions. I’ve had the privilege of working with children at various facilities, but nothing in my life has been as challenging, impactful, rewarding, and eye-opening as my motherhood journey. My child’s health issues led me to integrative and functional medicine. However, it’s my patients’ search for solutions beyond conventional treatments that has kept me committed to the work of addressing underlying factors using various non-conventional techniques.
I enjoy supporting women, mothers, and families. I’ve seen the impact that a woman can have on those in her life, and the healing that can take place when women accept themselves with compassion. I believe in the power of connection, compassion, spirituality, and the resiliency of the human spirit to promote healing.
